Sustainability is becoming increasingly important to us, and as a streetwear brand we are constantly working on becoming more sustainable and producing fairly.
Each of our collections is created in our office in Frankfurt and is produced under fair working conditions in Europe.
We use high quality materials for our products. This means we can keep our promise of quality as luxury streetwear.
Ecological and ethical concerns are at the top of our agenda. In line with the 2015 Paris Agreement, we aim to dramatically reduce our carbon emissions by 2025 - an ambitious goal based on scientific research.
To achieve this, we regularly measure our ecological footprint. This way we can better understand its impact and reduce it. This means that we receive operating data from our suppliers that we can use to carry out precise climate calculations. The result allows us to find room for improvements that reduce our environmental footprint.
Over time, sustainability will be integrated into every aspect of our business. Our ultimate goal is to minimize our impact on the environment and grow in a sustainable manner.
We have divided our goal into three phases. In Phases 1 and 2, we aim to reduce our carbon emissions by 80% by the end of 2025. This means that all internal processes are powered by renewable energy. In Phase 3, which accounts for 99% of our global emissions, we will commit to a 30% reduction in emissions per product.
Traceability is at the core of our sustainability goal. By continually gaining more knowledge about our supply chain, we can select the solution or supplier that will help us achieve our reduction goals.
Our 2022 Carbon Footprint showed us that around 23% of our suppliers get more than half of their energy from renewable sources. It also showed that approximately 90% of the leather we purchased in 2022 was sourced from Leather Working Group Gold Certified tanneries. This knowledge is essential for benchmarking and setting goals for future collections. It gives us insight into best practices in production, which in turn allows us to make alternative design decisions to reduce our carbon footprint.
A large part of our production takes place in Frankfurt, where we have a local sourcing office with 5 Menglü Paris employees. Having a presence at the heart of our production means we are able to build a committed partnership with our manufacturers that is focused on prosperity."
Our goal is to continue to grow without putting additional strain on the environment. We are constantly looking for innovative materials that maintain the quality of our products without harming the environment.
All of our leather in our shoes is certified by the Leather Working Group (LWG) and is rated either Gold or Silver. This means that we are able to trace the origin of the leather back to the rawhide and that tanneries are audited based on their environmental impact and performance. This also guarantees that the working conditions in the production facilities are ethical and environmentally friendly.
80% of the cotton yarns used in our Spring/Summer 2021 collection are organic.
We are proud to use the SEAQUAL INITIATIVE in a number of our products. The community's SEAQUAL® YARN is a yarn made from 100% post-consumer recycled polyester. It is made from around 10% upcycled marine plastic and 90% post-consumer PET sourced from land.
Drop of the week
With our “Drop of the Week” business model, we continue to put our initiatives at the heart of everything we do. With the help of our global community, we are able to promote better, smarter shopping.
The “Drop of the Week” format helps us maintain a healthy inventory level. In addition, our purchasing department is not forced to push inventory that exceeds market demand. Thanks to our suppliers, we do not have to place material orders that exceed production levels.
